How Our Recessed Enamel Lapel Pins Are Made
These custom lapel pins are by far our most popular branding style. They are created by iron stamping your design into the shape of the badge and then filling sections of it with Pantone colour-matched enamel ink. This creates a stylish design with a long-lasting finish. This style of lapel pin is also often referred to as "soft enamel," but the only real difference between this and our raised enamel pins option is the height of the ink fill. These recessed badges have a lower level fill style that doesn’t meet the height of the metal sections of the design. The result is an almost 3D look and a more textured feel. To achieve this fill, we use ink colours that are matched to the Pantone+ (Solid Coated) "C" colour library.
Submitting Artwork for Custom Enamel Lapel Badges
Our graphic team is more than happy to take your logo or vector artwork and turn it into a stunning digital mock-up for you to approve. In some cases, we can even trace a supplied image to make it suitable for enamel pin production (nominal vectoring fee may apply). This allows your business to get designs off the wish list and on the journey to physical production.
If you're thinking of submitting your own production-ready artwork, there are a few things to consider when designing for these enamel pins:
- All ink fill areas should be at least 0.4mm in diameter.
- All metal colour-separation lines should be at least 0.125mm wide
- We use inks to match the Pantone+ (Solid Coated) "C" colour library, so all CMYK or RGB colours would need to be converted. If you require lapel badges without ink fill, we recommend our moulded and polished lapel pin option.
- Due to the fact that enamel pinks can only use solid colours, we can't use gradients or half-tones on the artwork, but if you want to achieve a more photographic style pin, then we recommend our full colour printed lapel pins.

The figures below are only an approximate guide based on diameter, we can still create unique custom shapes or sizes to suit your needs.

- 20mm (approx. 0.8in), these pins are approx 1.5mm thick
