How Our Raised Enamel Pins Are Created
These enamel lapel pins are an exceptionally popular choice for promotional metal. They are created by iron stamping your design into the shape of the badge. The depressed sections are then filled with vibrant, Pantone colour-matched enamel ink. The result is an elegant design with a long-lasting finish. This style of lapel pin is also often called “hard enamel” but the only significant difference between this and our recessed enamel pin option is the height of the ink fill. These raised badges have a higher fill that sits more flush with the metal sections of the design. The result is a smoother finish over all. In order to achieve the fill, Pantone+ (Solid Coated) “C” colour library ink colours are used.
Submitting Artwork for Hard Enamel Lapel Pins
Our experienced graphic team is more than happy to take your vector artwork or logo and transform it into a stunning digital mockup. In some situations, we can even trace a supplied image to make it suitable for enamel pin production (nominal vectoring fee may apply).
If you're thinking of submitting your own production-ready artwork, there are a few things to consider when designing for these enamel pins:
- All ink fill areas should be at least 0.4mm in diameter.
- All metal colour-separation lines should be at least 0.125mm wide
- We use inks to match the Pantone+ (Solid Coated) "C" colour library, so all CMYK or RGB colours would need to be converted. If you require lapel badges without ink fill, we recommend our moulded and polished lapel pin option.
- Due to the fact that enamel pinks can only use solid colours, we can't use gradients or half-tones on the artwork, but if you want to achieve a more photographic style pin, then we recommend our full colour printed lapel pins.

The figures below are only an approximate guide based on diameter, we can still create unique custom shapes or sizes to suit your needs.
